Xiaomi may launch its Redmi Note 4 in India on January 19, the company has sent out invites for an event which reads “2017 Mi Product Launch”. The Redmi Note 4 is a successor to last year’s Redmi Note 3, the latest phone was first launched in China in August last year.
Xiaomi had launched two variants of the Redmi Note 4 in China with 2GB and 3GB RAM, however, it is expected to launch another 4GB RAM variant here in India. The Chinese phone is powered by MediaTek Helio X20 processor, but since Xiaomi is not authorised to sell MediaTek-backed phones in India, reports have suggested it to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.
The Redmi Note 4 features a 5.5-inch FullHD display with 1080p resolution and 2.5D curved glass.
The three variants of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 should come with 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and the 4GB RAM variant should carry 64GB storage inside. The internal storage is expandable up to 128GB using microSD card.
On the back, the Redmi Note 4 comes with a 13-megapixel camera with pdaf and dual-LED flash. The phone carries a 5-megapixel camera on front. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor on the back.
The phone is backed by a 4,100mAh battery and will be available in gold, grey and silver colours. The Redmi Note 4 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with MIUI 8.
In China, the 16GB variant is priced CNY 899 (approx Rs 9,000) and the 64GB variant is priced CNY 1,199 (approx Rs 12,000). We expect it to be priced around this range when it launches in India.
The pricing of the Redmi Note 4 will make the budget segment crowded for Xiaomi as its top budget phones like Redmi 3S Prime and Redmi Note 3 are also selling at the same price point. We can expect the company to cut prices on the older phones after the Redmi Note 4 launch.
