First Airtel, now Vodafone. Following the trend of “gifting” subscribers data, Vodafone is gifting 24GB data to its post paid subscribers. This data will be available in a monthly installment of 8GB and will be given for three months.
A few days ago, Airtel had announced it would provide 30GB free 4G data for three months. These offers are seemingly aimed at stopping consumers from choosing Jio Prime offer, which is set to expire on March 31.
Although as it happens in these sort of offers from Vodafone and others, there is no official announcement from Vodafone on this. It is also almost certain that not all Vodafone users will be offered this free data. The information about it comes from a tweet shared by Rajesh Pandey on Twitter.
The tweet shows a screenshot of a flash message by Vodafone. To access the offer, user needs to select activate option in the message and enjoy free data for three months. This offer is valid only for post-paid users and it explains that in order to avail the offer, users has to login into My Vodafone App using OTP. Go to Special offer> 24GB free offer for you> Activate.
Vodafone is following in the footsteps of Airtel which recently announced up to 30GB free data to its post-paid users in the wake of Jio Prime’s Rs 303 month offer. However, the offer is available to all Airtel users, not all are getting 30GB free data. The Airtel offer can be activated through the My Airtel app. Similar to Vodafone, the app shows message asking users to claim their surprise offer. Once user taps on the message, it asks to activate or cancel the free 10GB data per month for next three months. Users are informed through a text message once the service is activated.
Telecom industry in India is seeing a price war post Jio launch. Telecom companies are fighting a tough challenge from Reliance Jio which recently took the market by storms by announcing its new Jio Prime offer. Just to recall, Jio Prime costs Rs 99 per year and unlocks special plans for subscribers. Of these plans one of the most talked about is the Rs 303 plan, which offers consumers 28GB (capped at 1GB per day) 4G data along with free VoLTE calls and messages. At the same time, there is also a Rs 499 per month plan that offers 2GB of 4G data daily.
