Apple announced the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on Tuesday at an event that took place in Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino. Alongside the iPhones, Apple also announced several other products. Apple Watch Series 3 was one of the major announcements by Apple. This watch by Apple – as the Cupertino major claims – is the smarter watch ever. At the event, Tim Cook – CEO, Apple said, “today the Apple Watch is the number one watch in the world with 97 per cent customer satisfaction rate.” The new Apple Watch 3 comes with cellular connectivity and several new technologies and is priced Rs 29,900.
Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two models, one with GPS and cellular, and one with GPS, both featuring a 70 percent faster dual-core processor and new wireless chip. With the cellular technology, Apple Watch let users stay connected even when they are away from their iPhone. In simple terms, the all new Apple Watch 3 series with cellular connectivity allows users to stay connected, make calls, and receive texts even with their iPhone.
“We believe the addition of cellular will transform the way people use Apple Watch, providing a new sense of freedom since they can stay connected with or without their iPhone,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. Apple Watch 3 basically let users to stay fit or healthy, and also stay connected. The Watch 3 switches seamlessly to cellular whenever it is away from iPhone. Basically, with the built-in cellular technology, Apple Watch 3 will allow customers to make calls to their contact without having their iPhone.
Watch Series 3 can also be paired with AirPods to let the users to have a fully wireless experience. The Watch 3 comes with industry-first antenna design and have a built-in eSIM that is over one-hundredth the size of a traditional SIM card, says Apple. This makes over-the-air activation possible without compromising on the space. The Apple watch shares the same number as iPhone, this means that there’s no need to provide an additional number to contacts.
Apple Watch Series 3 is powered by Apple’s third-generation architecture and faster dual-core processor — S3. This processor allows for quicker app launch times and smoother graphics. The watch also comes with the ability that enables Siri to speak using the built-in speaker.
The watch comes with a newly designed custom wireless chip called — W2 which makes the Wi-Fi 85 percent faster and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 50 percent more power efficient. Apple Watch Series 3 also features a barometric altimeter that assists with tracking activity, flights climbed and outdoor workouts, including elevation gain.
“Apple Watch Series 3 combined with the power of watchOS 4 is the ultimate device for a healthy life,” says Jeff. The combination of cellular and watchOS 4 will allow Apple Music users to stream 40 million songs on their wrist.
The watchOS 4 comes with an updated Heart Rate app which is designed in a way to give more insight to the users’ heart rate, including measurements during resting, workout, recovery, walking and breathe sessions. The watchOS 4 also includes several features like — the proactive Siri watch face that displays the information users need most throughout the day, an enhanced Workout app with new interface, custom High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout type and auto-sets for pool swims.
Watch 3 series comes with something called a GymKit. This let users connect to their favourite cardio equipment and experience two-way synchronisation of data with just a tap.
As per the availability, Apple Watch 3 series — both GPS and Cellular version will be available in 10 countries and territories. The watch will be available in stores starting Friday, September 22. The GPS variant of the Apple Watch Series 3 comes with a price tag of Rs 29,900.
