Nokia’s comeback has been one of the biggest talking points of the year. HMD Global, the company behind Nokia’s comeback, has already launched four smartphones – the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and the flagship Nokia 8. Now it seems the company is gearing up to announce another high-end phone by the end of the year in the form of the Nokia 9.

Nokia 9 rumours have been making the rounds on the internet for quite some time now. In fact, HMD Global was expected to launch the Nokia 9 before the Nokia 8. Now, the Nokia 9 has been spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench. The listing points towards the upcoming handset running on Android 8.0 Oreo, which is the latest version of Google’s operating system.

The listing also claims that the Nokia 9 will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If this proves to be true, the Nokia 9 will end up having the exact same specifications as the Nokia 8. This makes us wonder how HMD Global will differentiate the Nokia 9 from the Nokia  8.

Previous rumours actually pointed towards the Nokia 9 coming with 6 or 8GB of RAM and a sizeable 128GB of internal storage. With these internals, the Nokia 9 will actually line up a step above the Nokia 8 in the company’s Android smartphone line-up.

It is widely expected that the Nokia 9 will come with the same display and camera setup as found on the Nokia 8. The Nokia 8 has a 5.3-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 and a maximum brightness of 700 Nits. It is covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against nicks and scratches.

On the imaging front, it has a dual camera setup at the rear with ZEISS optics – a 13MP primary RGB (color) sensor paired with a 13MP monochrome (black and white) sensor which allows for the capture of depth of field information and helps in low-light photography. On the front, the smartphone comes with a 13MP sensor which also has ZEISS optics.
