HMD Global earlier confirmed that all the Nokia Android phones aka the Nokia 3, 5, 6 and also the recently announced Nokia 8 will get Android Oreo sweetness in the forth coming days. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global on Monday took to Twitter to post that Oreo update for the Nokia 8 is in works. Meanwhile, HMD Global is also working on another high-end Android phone – which is said to be the big bother to the Nokia 8 aka the Nokia 9.
Juho Sarvikas posted an image of the Nokia 8 running on Android Oreo software. In the caption of the image, Sarvikas writes, “We are on it nokiamobile Android Oreo maturing nicely on Nokia 8, will release when perfect. Stay tuned!” Sarvikas posted two photos of the Nokia 8 getting the OTA for the Oreo beta, showing that it’s getting close.
However, he didn’t reveal the timeline of the Android Oreo release to the Nokia phones. But, reports suggest that the new software may hit the Nokia Android phones in Q4. Chances are that all the phones – Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 will get the Oreo update at almost the same time.
Juho Sarvikas, earlier this month, posted on Twitter about the Oreo update coming on all the Nokia phones. Back then he had posted, “All our smartphones will upgrade to Oreo, Nokia 3 included. No comments yet on timing so that I don’t get into trouble.”
Alongside bringing the new software update, HMD Global is also working on another Nokia branded phones called the Nokia 9. The smartphone is expected to launch in 2018. Ahead of the official announcement, Nokia 9 has been subjected to several leaks and rumours already. Going by the rumours, Nokia 9 is expected to come with a 3D glass back design and Wireless charging technology.
Nokia 9 has been leaked in images again. The image shows both front and rear side of the phone. It shows that Nokia 9 with AMOLED display with a curved glass. The phone is further tipped to come with Dual-Lens Zeiss camera like that of the Nokia 8.
Nokia 9 is further tipped to run on Qualcomm’s latest processor – Snapdragon 835 chipset. This was also seen on the GFX Bench listing. While some report hint at Snapdragon 845, which as of now seems to be distant dream. Further, the Carl Zeiss lens of the Nokia 9 is said to include IMX 258 sensor and is expected to come with both RGB and monochrome versions.
Earlier, some sources close to Nokia revealed to the NokiaPowerHouse that the upcoming Nokia 9 may come in two variants — 6GB/8GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage. Reports further claim that the Nokia 9 is further expected to come with IP68 certification and may also feature an Iris scanner. There will also be a fingerprint sensor placed at the back of the Nokia 9.
On the pricing point, the Nokia 9 is said to be a little expensive than the Nokia 8. Rumours suggest that Nokia 9 will cost around 750 Euros, which roughly translates to Rs 57,740.
Nokia 9 was recently spotted on GFXBench also. The listing revealed key specs details of the phone. On the benchmark listing, the Nokia 9 is seen running on Android 8 Oreo software.
