Moto G5 Plus is the new Motorola phone we expect the company to launch at the upcoming MWC event on February 26. But so many things have leaked already that we have a good chunk of information to tell you about the Motorola’s upcoming mid-ranger.
The first leak happened back in December 2016, when a listing was spotted along with a few specs. Both the Moto G5 and the G5 Plus appeared in the leak, along with images that looked exactly the same as the Moto G4’s.
But soon after, a leaker posted full specs and images of the phone — possibly a trial unit made for testing — was posted on Romanian Olx. Most of the renders and specs leaked thereafter look all similar and cement the possibility that the listed phone was a Moto G5 Plus Lenovo will eventually launch. So here we go with the specs first.
Processor: Like the fourth gen Moto G, the Moto G Plus will come with a Qualcomm chipset — but it’s an improved 2 GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, similar to the recent Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
RAM: The RAM is said to be 4GB RAM, similar to the Moto M.
Internal storage: The Moto G5 Plus smartphone will pack 32GB of internal storage, expandable via Micro SD card.
Screen: Moto G5 Plus will come with a 5.5 inch Full HD display. It is said to be a Super AMOLED panel topped with Corning Gorilla Glass.
Rear camera: While the screen grabs showed Moto G5 Plus to have a 12-megapixel rear camera but the leaker has listed it as a 13-megapixel shooter. What we know for sure is that will not be a dual camera module, but a big sensor is expected, given the big round casing at the back, similar to the Moto Z’s. Which also means, it could have PDAF for quick focus even in low light.
Front camera: It also carries a 5-megapixel front shooter.
Software: The phone would run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Battery: The Motorola Moto G5 Plus has a 3,080 mAh battery and also supports fast charging technology.

— The design of Moto G5 Plus, what appears from the leaked images, will be different from the Moto G4. It takes cues from the Moto Z design but it maintains its differences. The fingerprint sensor is ellipitical, like that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 but it will not be a clickable button.
— The phone appears to have a full metal unibody design, something we saw on Moto M.
— The Moto G5 Plus could also be water and dust resistant, like the Moto G4 and the Moto M. The phone will have NFC, Accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope and gravity sensors.
Expected India price: The Romanian seller listed the phone at RON 1,650 (approx Rs 26,500 or $388), while another leak claimed a $300 (about Rs 20,400) price on global variant. It should be priced close to the Moto M in the sub Rs 20,000 rage — not far from Moto G4 Plus, but nothing concrete can be said about that right now.
