CIOs may have difficult jobs, but for the most part, they are satisfied with their work, according to a new study from Robert Half Technology. In a survey of more than 2,500 CIOs in 25 metropolitan areas, tech leaders rated their job satisfaction as an 8.5 out of 10.
“Over the past several years, CIOs have taken on a significant amount of responsibility to help organizations meet business goals through technology initiatives,” said John Reed, senior executive director of Robert Half Technology, in a press release. “While the pressure to deliver has risen, having the opportunity to influence strategy and be a key contributor to success certainly adds to job satisfaction.”
Technology professionals also rate highly when it comes to happiness at work compared to those in other industries, according to another study from Robert Half and Happiness Works. The top three factors that led to job satisfaction for tech workers were pride in their organization, feeling appreciated, and interest in their work, the study found.
“Technology professionals at all levels work extremely hard, and they are often motivated and get the most fulfillment when they are passionate about their organization’s mission and recognized for their contributions,” Reed said in the release.
