Mate 10 and Mate 10 pro are Huawei’s upcoming flagship phones rumoured to launch next month. While renders of Mate 10 were leaked by Evan Blass few days ago, a new leak has surface online that claims the phones will come with dual rear cameras and Huawei’s top end chipset — the Kirin 970.
An image teased by the company hinted the phone will come with Leica-branded dual cameras. But Slashleaks, citing official promotional material as source, claims the phones’ camera will have a very wide aperture of f/1.6. This is the widest aperture possible on a phone camera, currently available only on one smartphone — the LG V30 — which was announced at IFA and has started shipping in select markets for now.
A wider aperture allows for better low light photography and LG claimed the V30 allows 25 per cent more light compared to an f/1.8 aperture camera usually found on smartphones.
The leak also says the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be powered by Kirin 970 with support for high speed LTE connectivity of ‘up to 1.2Gbp’. Which means like the Galaxy S8/S8+, HTC U11 or the Sony Xperia XZ Premium (and unlike the iPhone 8), the phone will support Gigabit LTE. In fact, Huawei tested speeds higher than what’s possible with Gigabit LTE at 1.2Gbps with Kirin 970.
The chip also features built-in AI acceleration which has features like image recognition, voice interactions and intelligent camera applications up its sleeve. Huawei may pair the dual camera with a new camera application for image recognition. Machine learning and AI helped Honor 8 Pro’s interface fly despite a heavy skin.Mate 10 and Mate 10 pro would also ship with 4000mAh battery as per the leak-similar to what we saw on the Mate 9. Consequently, the phones will also support Super charge –Huawei’s fast charging system that fill 55 per cent battery in an hour.
From previous leaks, we know the Mate 10 would come with a nearly bezel-less 5.99 inch Quad HD display having an 18:9 aspect ratio. Mate 10 Pro is said to sport a bigger display with a smaller bezel at the bottom, but its exact screen size in still unknown. The phone is said to run Android Oreo out of the box with Huawei’s own Emotion UI on top.
Moreover, pricing of the two phones has also leaked previously. Mate 10 is said to come in three variants — 4GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/128GB storage, and 6GB RAM/256GB storage, priced respectively at CNY 4,299 (about Rs 42,500), CNY 4,899 (about Rs 48,500), and CNY 5,599 (about Rs 55,000).
Mate 10 Pro is said to come in four variants — three with 6GB RAM and one with 8GB RAM. The 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 5,499 (about Rs. 54,000), while that with 128GB storage and 256GB storage are priced at CNY 6,199 (about Rs. 61,000) and CNY 6,899 (about Rs. 68,000). The 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant will come at a premium of CNY 7,499 (about Rs. 73,500).
