Ahead of the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL launch, Google is teasing the new phones in several cities across the world. One of these cities, surprisingly, happens to New Delhi hinting that the company will launch the two new phones in India soon after introducing them in the US. Several hoardings for Google’s upcoming Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL phones have been seen on Delhi roads.
Although these teaser posters don’t mention the phone by name, they say “ask more of your phone” and then mentions October 4, when Google is going to launch the new phones. In India, the phones may not launch on October 4. But if the posters are a hint, Google should bring them in the coming days, possibly before Diwali so that it can target the festive shopping season. In India, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are expected to have a starting price of Rs 55,000.

Google is hosting an event in San Francisco on October 4 where the company will launch the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL. Along with the two phones, the company is also expected to launch a new Chromebook called PixelBook, a new smaller and cheaper Google Home speaker and a new Daydream VR headset. In the last few days rumours of the new Google phone called Ultra Pixel too have floated on the web. But Ultra Pixel sounds like a fake, imaginative device at the moment. It’s not happening.
Of the two phones that will come on October 4, the Pixel 2 XL is a more exciting device. It is going to be made by LG and it is likely to be based on the LG G6, complete with an edge-to-edge display with 18:9 aspect ratio. However, internally the hardware is going to be more powerful than what is there inside the LG6. The processor in the Pixel 2 XL is going to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 whereas the camera will be something very similar to the 12-megapixel shooter that Google used in the original Pixel.
The Pixel 2, as the name suggests, will be a smaller phone with a screen size of around 5 inches. This is a phone that HTC is making and it could be based on the HTC U11. The Pixel 2 will have core hardware similar to that of the Pixel 2 XL but will have a design that may seem slightly more chunkier compared to the Pixel 2 XL.
In terms of features, we know that the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL will come with Android Oreo. They will also come with waterproof body, metal-and-glass body, a fingerprint sensor on the rear cover, squeezable frame similar to that of the HTC U11 and stereo speakers. In terms of cameras, it is safe to say that the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2XL will come with fairly top-class shooters considering the fact that the original Pixel phones are current best. But there is going to be only single-camera system in both phones, so no dual-camera tricks like what the OnePlus 5 or the iPhone 8 Plus offer.
