Apple’s anniversary-special edition iPhone 8 will have IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, suggests a report by Korean Herald. This means that the upcoming iPhone 8 could withstand full submersion in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. This is an upgrade from IP67 rating present in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus which can stand immersion up to 30 minutes but only in one metre of water.
Phones that already have IP68 or an upgraded rating are Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Sony Xperia XZ, Moto G4 Plus and HTC Desire Eye. Through previous leaks we know that the upcoming iPhone 8 will sport a glass back similar to iPhone 4 and 4S. It is also rumoured that there won’t be any home button and Apple will instead add a virtual button to iPhone 8 which will be placed directly inside the screen.
There are also reports that suggest that the upcoming iPhone will have little or no room for bezels. Apparently, Apple will come with a new design in iPhone 8 using two glass panes with a stainless steel holding them together in the middle. Previous rumours had also suggested that iPhone will have OLED bezel-less curved display which was nearly confirmed by AppleInsider last month. However, had confirmed that the 2017 iPhone will come in three models: One OLED model, and two TFT-LCD models with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display. ” One OLED model, and two TFT-LCD models with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display. We believe the OLED and 5.5-inch TFT-LCD iPhones will feature [a] dual-camera,” it had said. The upcoming iPhones are expected to powered by Apple A11 processor and come with wireless charging.
