Early this year at CES, we saw a swarm of gaming laptops showcased by several companies. While a few new series were announced, most were upgraded to newer graphics, one announced by NVIDIA and ones that offer more powerful graphic output (read VR ready) at much lower prices.

Gaming PCs announced by Acer at CES on the same lines are now available in India. The Acer Aspire VX 15 based on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics will be available online on Flipkart and through Acer retail stores at Rs 87,999.

The company also announced refreshed versions of last year’s Acer Predator 15 and Predator 17 laptops and the Predator G1 Desktop that are upgraded with the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics and will be available in India starting from Rs 1,59,999 and Rs 1,19,999 respectively.

Under the hood, Acer Aspire VX 15 is loaded with the latest 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, 1TB of hard drive and 128 GB M.2 SSD for storage.

Fitted with a 15.6 inch IPS display the laptop borrows the aggressive gaming design from the predator series but keeps a lean built and a layout of controls similar to a normal laptop. It has an iron red backlit keyboard, dual fans to boost up the thermal system and Dolby Audio premium & Acer ‘TrueHarmony’ sound paraphernalia.

On the other hand, the Predator G1 Desktop houses the Intel Core i7 processor but with 3 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GDDR5 graphics and 16 GB of Dual-channel DDR4 2133 MHz memory, upgradeable up to 64 GB.  For storage it has a 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD coupled to a 128GB SSD.

On-board enhancements include the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 for audio; Killer Wireless-AC for internet connectivity, while the upgradability options include three expansion slots PCIe x16 slot, M.2 slot (for SSD) and M.2 slot (for WLAN).

The Predator 15 (G9-593), 17 (G9-793) are launched with a slightly refreshed specs, while most of its features remain the same. Both come with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card and the 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processors.

The laptops have a Full HD IPS antiglare G-SYNC screen, and are known to have some impressive cooling tricks under its sleeve, including a swappable fan design that injects it with extra fan to keep temperatures down.
