Acer has launched a new gaming laptop in India that is based on Intel’s latest 8th generation of core processors. The Acer Nitro 5 Spin combines the ease of a convertible PC to a conventional gaming laptop with a touch display that can be rotated 360 degrees.

The Nitro 5 Spin has quite a thin form factor for its capabilities. It packs a GeForce GTX 1050 from NVIDIA mobile GPU that helps it remain slim. Though it remains a question to be answered if the laptop has efficient enough of a cooling system that can keep this mammoth graphics processor working at its best and big enough of a battery that powers this mobile-gaming-rig of sorts.

For storage it has a combination of 256GB Solid State drive and 1 Terabyte of Hard Disk. The SSD is configured for fast boot up. The display on Nitro 5 Spin has a 15.6 inch size and fullHD resolution. It is an IPS panel that is hinged to the laptop body in a way that allows it to be folded to the back. It is a touch screen which means it can be used in tablet or tent mode for watching movies or surfing the Internet.

There are host of gaming features on the laptop, like a backlit keyboard, an audio system consisting of dual front-facing speakers and one subwoofer supported by Dolby Audio Premium and Acer Color Intelligence – a technology built in house that dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation levels in real-time, optimizing screen color, brightness and saturation without putting much strain on the processor. It also has a fingerprint scanner to login in to Windows without typing in a password.

Gaming on the Acer Nitro 5 Spin is powered by GeForce GTX 1050 which is quite a capable GPU for the price. It comes with 640 shader units on board like its desktop counterpart and 4GB of GDDR5 memory. The GPU supports Display Port 1.4 with improved H.265 video de-coding and encoding.

The Acer Nitro 5 Spin will come in two models based on either a Core i5 or a Core i7 platform. Though Acer has not revealed the amount of RAM it will be offering on the base variant. In India, it will sell at a starting price of Rs 79,990 — online on Flipkart, and offline at retail stores and Acer Exclusive stores.
